Barcelona, 26 octubre 2015.-<\/strong> \u00a0 Publicamos el resumen que ha hecho p\u00fablico la Asociaci\u00f3n Europea de la Log\u00edstica de Automoci\u00f3n (ECG)<\/a> sobre la su reuni\u00f3n anual el pasado 16 de octubre. Y seguidamente, la\u00a0informaci\u00f3n en espa\u00f1ol del portal Cadena de Suministro. ECG’s annual conference<\/a> took place at the Marriott Hotel in Vienna on October 16th. The annual conference enjoyed a record attendance, underlining its significance as the largest gathering of professionals from the finished vehicle logistics industry anywhere in Europe. More than 240 delegates, including a strong representation from the automotive industry, gathered in Vienna, Austria on 16th October for this year\u2019s meeting of the Association of European Vehicle Logistics (ECG). Here they heard that the industry has returned to growth and is now confronting new technologies that could transform operations.<\/p>\n

The audience, made up of executives from both car manufacturers and Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), heard that European vehicle sales are indeed returning to a brighter future, although volumes are still not close to pre-crisis levels. Over the first nine months of 2015, new passenger car registrations increased (+8.8%), surpassing 10 million units (10,413,675). In September 2015, the EU passenger car market showed another strong month (+9.8%), marking the 25th consecutive month of growth. Demand for new passenger cars is up in all major markets, driven by ongoing scrappage schemes and by the economic recovery of Southern Europe. 2015 is predicted to finish above 14m units, compared to 13m last year \u2013 a growth rate expected to outpace all other major regions in the world this year.\u00a0However, ECG president Costantino Baldissara warned that ongoing and worsening capacity shortages and a lack of adequate investment are putting the sector\u2019s revival and prospects for a brighter future at risk. The average age of heavy duty vehicles increased steadily from 7.5 years to 8.1 years over the 2000-2014 period. In the major EU markets the transporter fleet shrunk from 20,600 in 2008 to 16,650 in 2014. Further investment is urgently needed to meet the increasing needs of the expanding market.<\/p>\n

Baldissara estimated that European vehicle logistics needs \u20ac2.5 billion ($2.8 billion) investment in trucks and compones.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Baldissara also called on car manufacturers to consider the sustainability of logistics offers and urged more accurate forecasting to avoid false peaks. \u201cOur sector is not a simple cost to be cut but a strategic asset to be appraised\u201d. Gareth Williams, head of distribution for Jaguar Land Rover, acknowledged the capacity issues and recognised that output from OEMs is variable.\u00a0Both speakers and delegates agreed that taking advantage of digital innovations in transportation in order to develop a sustainable, efficient, clean, safe and seamless vehicle delivery network is essential to long-term growth and prosperity. The industry is steadily evolving to meet consumer demands and must continue to so, continually benchmarking with other logistics providers of consumer products in order to meet customer expectation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking at the Conference, Peter Weiss, Vice President Supply Chain Europe FCA laid out a \u2018call to action\u2019 to address problems in the industry and called on the industry to align and lobby governments to define optimal standards for car transporters, including both length and height requirements. He also said the sector should have a more common voice in areas such as cabotage restrictions and should also continue to lobby on transport standards and infrastructure investment. \u201cTalk is cheap, it is all about execution now,\u201d Weiss stated. \u201cLet\u2019s go back now and see what we can really achieve rather than waiting until the next time we get together.\u201d\u00a0With this consensus amongst carmakers and LSPs that the working basis for the sector needs to change and that closer co-operation is a necessity, it was agreed to establish a common platform to work together to establish standards and guidelines that could benefit the overall sector. This common platform will also co-ordinate industry lobbying at national level on the review of Directive (EU) 2015\/719 on maximum authorised weights and dimensiones.\u00a0\u201cOnly through stronger communication and collaboration with clients can we provide the best and most efficient service\u201d Mr. Baldissara concluded.<\/p>\n

M\u00e1s de 240 delegados, entre ellos una importante representaci\u00f3n de la industria del autom\u00f3vil, se han reunido el 16 de octubre en Viena, Austria para celebrar la reuni\u00f3n anual de la Asociaci\u00f3n Europea de Log\u00edstica de Automoci\u00f3n (ECG), donde se ha mostrado el crecimiento de la industria y se han dado a conocer las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas que podr\u00edan transformar las operaciones.<\/p>\n

Los asistentes, en su mayor\u00eda ejecutivos de los fabricantes y proveedores de log\u00edstica para el autom\u00f3vil, han constatado que las ventas de veh\u00edculos en Europa est\u00e1n repuntando, aunque los vol\u00famenes a\u00fan est\u00e1n lejos que los registrados antes de la crisis.<\/p>\n

En este sentido, durante los primeros nueve meses de 2015, las matriculaciones de autom\u00f3viles aumentaron un 8,8%, superando las diez millones de unidades, mientras que en septiembre de 2015, el mercado mostr\u00f3 una subida del 9,8%, que marca el 25\u00ba mes consecutivo de crecimiento.<\/p>\n

Esto se debe a a los planes de achatarramiento impulsados en varios pa\u00edses y a la recuperaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica del sur de Europa. Por ello, se prev\u00e9 que el 2015 se cierre con una cifra superior a los 14 millones de unidades vendidas, aumentando un mill\u00f3n con respecto al resultado de 2014.<\/p>\n

Sin embargo, el presidente de ECG, Costantino Baldissara, ha advertido sobre la escasez de la capacidad del mercado y sobre el empeoramiento de las inversiones, que empa\u00f1an las perspectivas positivas para el sector.<\/p>\n

La edad media de la flota de portaveh\u00edculos \u200b\u200bha aumentado de 7,5 a\u00f1os a 8,1 a\u00f1os entre el 2000 y el 2014. Adem\u00e1s, en los principales mercados de la UE, la flota se ha reducido de 20.600 en 2008 a 16.650 unidades en 2014. De esta forma, Baldissara estima que el sector de la log\u00edstica del autom\u00f3vil necesita una inversi\u00f3n urgente de 2.500 millones de euros en veh\u00edculos y tecnolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Baldissara tambi\u00e9n ha demandado a los fabricantes de automoci\u00f3n que consideren la sostenibilidad en su log\u00edstica. Por ello, durante la reuni\u00f3n se ha acordado que aprovechar mejor las innovaciones tecnol\u00f3gicas para el transporte, con el objetivo de desarrollar una red de entrega de veh\u00edculos sostenible, eficiente, limpia, segura, es esencial para el crecimiento del sector.<\/p>\n

Asimismo, durante la reuni\u00f3n se ha solicitado a la industria, para que presione a los gobiernos con el fin de definir unos est\u00e1ndares \u00f3ptimos para el transporte de autom\u00f3viles, incluidos tanto la longitud como los requisitos de altura. Tambi\u00e9n se ha pedido unanimidad en el sector en \u00e1reas como el cabotaje, as\u00ed como que se deber\u00eda presionar para una mayor regulaci\u00f3n e inversi\u00f3n para el sector.<\/p>\n

Con esta base de mayor cooperaci\u00f3n entre fabricantes y proveedores log\u00edsticos, se ha acordado establecer una plataforma com\u00fan de trabajo que ayude a establecer normas y directrices para beneficiar al sector en general.
